WhatsApp Tips And Tricks You Might Not Know About

Our previous tutorial was about WhatsApp's main features like as to create an account, making a voice call or a video call, starting a chat with friends, disappearing messages, etc.  Today we will describe some tips and tricks about WhatsApp.  This application has many features we might not know about.  We will discuss different features step-by-step here.

Search all your chats

When you start a chat with your friends or family members or group members, you mutually exchange some information, addresses, or other things like a specific program or movie names.  After some days you need to search those addresses or information but don't want to scroll all chat till the footer because it will waste your time.  So use the search option in the top right corner near the three dots menu.  It will make your task easy.  Just enter a word related to that address, song, or movie name and it will show all searches in front of you.

There are many options below this tab.  When you tap the search icon it will show you photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, and documents.  It will minimize your search by selecting your required things.

Hide your profile picture

If you do not want to display your profile picture to everyone, especially in groups where most of the group members are unknown to you.  You can turn off your profile picture.

Go to Settings and hit the Privacy tab and select profile picture.  Choose one option from this tab i.e everyone, my contacts, my contacts except, or nobody.

There is a little bit of difference between my contacts and my contacts except tabs.  By selecting my contacts all your contacts will see your profile picture.  By selecting my contacts except tab, you can deny to some contacts you don't want to show them your profile picture.  From the next page tick all those contacts to whom you do not want to show your profile picture.

How to lock microphone for long voice messages

WhatsApp allows you to lock your microphone while sending long voice messages for which you don't want to hold your phone in your hands.  Go to the message input tab, press, and hold the microphone.  Now swipe it upside to the lock icon and leave it.  The microphone is now in a locked position, record your voice message and send it.

Increase the listening speed of a voice message

Voice message speed can be increased to 1.5x or 2x.  The default value of listening to a voice message is 1x.  On receiving a voice message, if you want to listen with increased speed, just click on the play button.  On the left side of the play button, you will see speed i.e 1x, 1.5x, or 2x.  Select your required listening speed.

How to reply to a group member privately

If you are a member of many WhatsApp groups chat with your friends.  Sometimes you want to reply to a group member privately, WhatsApp allows users to do this instead of adding a member to the contact list.

Press and hold a message of a particular member you want to reply to him privately.  By holding this message its background color will be changed to blue.  Now click the three dots menu on the top right corner and select Reply Privately or message contact name.  Your one-to-one chat is now live.

How to use WhatsApp on the web and desktop

You can use WhatsApp's desktop or web versions.  A web and desktop version application synchronizes your all data from your phone.  For the web, go to https://web.whatsapp.com or download the application for desktop from whatsapp.com/download/

You can set this configuration from the Link Devices option in the three dots drop-down menu.

Hide the blue ticks

When it is required not to show your appearance on WhatsApp to your contacts, turn off the blue ticks.  When you turn it off you will also receive no receipt of your messages.

Go to Settings and tap the Privacy tab.  Find Read Receipt and turn off this.  Now you are all set if you don't want to give someone an instant reply.

Who is your favorite person

Sometimes we make a conversation with some contacts thoroughly, but it does not mean that the person you send messages to is your favorite.  WhatsApp makes a person  favorite just by the quantity of sent data to someone. So your favorite person might not be who you think about.  Now the question is how to find who is the favorite person.

Click the three dots menu and select Settings from the drop-down menu.  Now click Manage Storage and a list of contacts will appear which shows who is the favorite person using bulky storage.

How to change the message or call tone

WhatsApp allows users to change the message or call tone from default to another tone.  Visit the Settings tab from the three dots menu and click Notification Tone.  After clicking on this tab a list of tones will appear.  Now select the tone for your message.  From this menu, you can also select Vibration duration.

Go to Settings and click Notification.
Now click Vibrate, here are four options i.e off, default, short or long.  You can change different tones for different groups.
